This unit is for introducing different roles and levels of teachers and learner and their relationships. The unit began with a list of qualities which a good teacher should possess. Which continued to a series of description on various roles of a teacher. In my opinion, out of all the roles the roles as an organize, as a facilitator and as an assessor are the most important ones. Being an organizer is the most basic and important role from my point of view as it requires a teacher to be able to plan his/her lessons and keep up the flow of the activities while engaging all the students. While, taking charge is important for a teacher, it’s also essential to let the students go on with their tasks on their own without interruption which in turn will build the student’s confidence in following instructions and completing a task or activity which allowing themselves being creative. All learners are motivated when they get to learn about their assessments from time to time irrespective of their learning levels. The unit then explains different learning levels and the characteristics of a good learner. In addition, there is a brief comparison between young and adult learners which shows how the attention span varies and learning ability differs due to expectations induced by experiences. Finally, the unit concludes with few examples of what motivates to learn English.
