This final unit was an overview on troubleshooting, or how to manage different scenarios such as large classes and classes with varied English abilities. The unit also gave some good information on what to do during your first class as an ESL teacher. In the first lesson, I learned that it is important to establish rapport with the students, and then learn about their reasons for learning the English language. This lesson also taught methods on how to encourage participation in large classes, such as pair work and choral repetition. I also found the section on listening texts helpful - as a learner of Chinese as a second language, I am familiar with how hard the listening aspect of language learning can be.
