This unit takes into account the issue of whether or not to use a course book and if so, which are the factors to take into considerations while choosing a book suitable to the needs of the class. Using a course book presents not only advantages but even disadvantages, that’s why it is appropriate not to use it for the whole lesson, don’t base all the lessons around it and integrate the chosen course book with a balanced use of created and authentic materials that can raise the interest of the students and create an unpredictable and stimulating atmosphere in the classroom.
