Both these videos were interesting to observe. Clearly in the first video, the teacher created an immediate disconnect between himself and his students by the manner in which he commenced the lesson with very little attempt to create rapport, after which he launched into his topic in a manner which was largely disengaging and a little disconcerting to the students (use of excessive hand gestures seemed somewhat aggressive and intimidating). Thereafter, it was clear he had lost the interest and attention of his students. The second lesson was much more constructive, establishing pleasant and friendly rapport and ensuring that students were at all times fully engaged with the lesson and feeling as if they wanted to master the grammar subject being taught. At all times the teacher was positive, encouraging and he reinforced his lesson with productive study and activate stages which cemented what his lesson objectives were.
