This unit on past tense was one of the more difficult to understand. I found myself figuring out which tense goes where by figuring out which one “sounds right” to myself. This unit has explained some of that, and really driven home to me how difficult it will actually be to teach these verb tenses. I was surprised to see that the readings didn’t offer a single activity to help teach the past perfect continuous, and so was forced to be creative when the task sheet required me to list a couple of activities. Creating useful activities is an incredibly useful skill, one I have nurtured in my current position and that I hope this course will help me to hone further.
