This unit provides a basic understanding of the roles of the teacher and student in the classroom. It also outlines some examples of what makes good teachers and good learners. Through this I have learned various methods that can be employed in the classroom for different scenarios.
The overview of learning levels and differences in teaching the different age groups also has helped me form an idea of how I would interact and teach in various settings. Throughout this unit I have had with me a non-native English speaker (Korean) and have already had a chance to bounce teaching ideas off of her and get her input on her ideas of good teaching and learning practices. Putting the lesson, my own thoughts, and the thoughts of a relevant learner together has really helped me get the most out of this unit and has given me a good foundation for the lessons to come.
