After learning how present tenses are broken down into their sub section categories, learning the different usages of past tenses was a lot easier. It will be a ongoing process on how to explain exactly when a particular one is used and why it is used. I think the way this unit was taught was helpful since it was VERY similar to the present tense section....I do not think I got 100% of them right, but have the basic understanding of the past tense usages better then present.
