This Unit presented two videos of lessons being taught. In the first video the teacher is late, walks around with a lesson plan, didn't do the engage phase, didn't use the students' names, there was no rapport between the students and the teacher, and the teacher talk time was high whilst the students' talk time was low. The teacher in the first video hardly incorporated any of the techniques taught in this course and had terrible classroom management. The students were confused and intimidated. In the second example of a lesson, the teacher followed a straight arrow ESA lesson and incorporated all the techniques taught in the previous units. He had a great rapport with the students. The students were active, had high talk time, and seemed to enjoy the lesson. Instructions were clear and well explained. In contrasting these two lessons, one realizes the importance of classroom management and teaching skills.
