In this unit, two important skills were discussed, reading and listening, which are both receptive skills. A brief overview of how to teach these skills was provided and several variables regarding what texts and materials a teacher might use to help strength these skills were discussed.
This unit in many ways related back to previous units on the methodology of teaching but it was useful in thinking about the way that students learn and the importance of selecting texts that will interest students. As the unit explained, there are many different ways that people "receive" language and this is something the teacher must always be aware of.
