This last unit was about common problem situations. It covered the "first lesson" in depth. It also gave some really good pointers for large classes and the use of native language in the classroom. Also, there was a bit on the reluctant student and then difficulties with listening texts. A very short unit indeed. I learned some new material here. I also learned why using some strategies [over others] is good: for example, using role play because some students find it easier to communicate when they are acting as someone else than when they are just being themselves. It never occurred to me that this could be why we use role-play but now that this has been pointed out to me . . . it makes perfect sense and I will use this a lot!! Thank you.
