Unit 11 was a very important unit for me because although I am an experienced English teacher, my focus had been mainly on speaking, writing and listening. I have to admit, after reading this unit, I realized that I have done my students an injustice by not paying equal attention to reading and developing their predictive, scanning, skimming, reading for detail and deduction skills. This unit has helped me to understand that I need to change my approach by incorporating all of the four skills equally into my lessons in order to develop my students in a more balanced way.
