This unit, while shorter than most, covered receptive learning skills (namely, listening and reading). Some students have different reasons for learning their receptive skills, which is important to understand when teaching students. They may be looking for different skills to obtain from your lessons, and could lose interest in the language if your lessons do not meet their desire. For example: if a student wants to be able to keep up with American Football, he/she might want to learn scanning skills, or predictive skills. Thus, it is important for the teacher to create lessons that spur their interests.
Additionally, I found the second part of the unit (about the authentic texts vs. non-authentic texts) to be interesting, as I have had professors who want you to be exposed to real pieces of work from the target language; however, I have discovered that sometimes I was not at the proper skill level to read/listen to these, so it made me very frustrated and uncomfortable in class.
