Speaking and writing are the 2 components of productive skills. Both are equally important for communication your thoughts and ideas. I learned that writing can be more tricky and harder to grasp, due to good reason. While mistakes can be easily corrected in speech, writing mistakes take more time to understand and teach. Writing includes: handwriting, spelling, layout, punctuation, and vocabulary and a teacher must allow sufficient time and numerous exercises in order for their students to understand its value and importance. I like the activity examples discussed in this unit as they are easy to understand. The activity with the comic-strip dialogue makes absolute sense in that it is fun and provides the students a sense of accomplishment upon completion and pride. Coming from a background and specific education in the English language, this unit of writing and speaking is my favorite.
