In an ideal world schools would have all the course materials that a student needs.The reality, is however different.Teacher's have to create his or her own materials to either supplement the course book, or replace the sections that are not suitable for the class.Authentic materials could be described as programs, magazines, newspapers, songs,poems, brochures,menu's,films on video.
Uses of authentic materials-
1.they are real,more interesting and motivating.
2.Students gain confidence when they understand them.
3.They can be geared to the interests of a particular group of students.
Created Materials are usually designed by the teacher to replace or supplement the materials from a course book.Many artistic teachers use their abilities for material production.
Common created materials include: crosswords, word search puzzles,role-play cards,flash cards,gap-fill activities,picture-stories.
Course books usually contains set of materials,students book,work-book, cassettes,teachers book.Although not all materials are suitable for your class; it is considerably easier and less time consuming to supplement than to design a syllabus and create materials from scratch.
