I learned about how to apply the ESA methods to introduce a new language. I also learned that when I am teaching vocabulary, grammar or functions I will commonly use certain ESA methods. When the lesson is about grammar or vocabulary, then the ‘straight arrow’ ESA approach is used. And when the lesson is about functions, then ‘boomerang’ or ‘patchwork’ ESA structures are more commonly used.
