Although I already have experience in teaching, this unit has reinforced the common problems that my students tend to have with the past tense. I find that the use of the auxiliary verbs (do/did and have/had, for example) tend to confuse students the most when learning the past and how to make correct sentences. I do, however, only have experience in teaching students who speak Spanish, and the Spanish language tends to have similar structures. After reading this unit, I am curious to see how it would be to teach students whose first languages omit some of these common past constructions.
