Learning the types of past tenses helps me communicate well in writing and speaking. At first, it is quite hard to understand it but once you get to master it, it is really an edge especially in teaching them to students. Learning how to speak of the past events properly makes it more effective in conveying a message to someone. There are real differences when an action is totally done and an action that has started in the past and still continues at the moment you are saying it. Past events should be communicated well in a correct grammar so that conversations will be more effective and meaningful.
