This unit demonstrated two very different ESL lesson via videos. The first lesson showed many of the mistakes that can be made when teaching ESL such as the manner of the teacher, giving instructions unclearly, not properly checking for comprehension, not encouraging participation etc. On the other hand, the second lesson taught by the same instructor on the same subject shows a good ESL lesson. The manner of the teacher is much more friendly and he seems to be have put much more thought into the lesson. He also uses more effective teaching techniques and activities (such as elicitation of the target language and mil drill).
