Here we learn the importance as well as the theory and how to teach pronunciation as well as phonology. By first understanding why we need to teach this at all, we need to be reminded that it is one of the most neglected areas of ESL while at the same time a much requested aspect from the viewpoint of the students. In this unit we learn about stress and intonation,the phonetic alphabet and articulation. We learn about how sounds are made with each part of the mouth and how to teach pronunciation with this in mind. After quizzing myself first as well as working through the tasks at the end of the unit, I was able to get a clear picture about how to approach teaching stress, intonation and pronunciation.
