This unit covered the parts of speech and how they fit into various contexts in the English language. Although I was already familiar with most of these concepts, it is always helpful to refresh one's memory when it comes to English grammar. There are, after all, many ways words can work—from gerunds to adverbs to articles, it can get quite tricky. Furthermore, English contains an inordinate number of irregular forms of words that, while they may sound natural to the native speaker, require rote memorization for the foreign student.
