This unit has been quite interesting. Having worked at a number of public schools it was interesting to review a systematic list of different techniques that can be used to help maintain discipline in the classroom. The reason for this is that many of the students in the local public schools are affected by negative family circumstances, group sizes are large, and there is a cultural lack of respect for teachers. This unit has nicely reminded me that the best way of ensuring the students are disciplined is by setting a positive example of yourself as role model for the class: being positive, prepared and patient with the students and treating everyone with care and respect goes a long way!
