I am so happy to see the IPA utilized and taught (though extremely briefly) in this course. I first encountered and studied it in undergrad as a theater student. It helped my analyze Shakespearian text as well as learn how to speak in many different dialects.
The IPA chart learned was more complex and included all sounds the human mouth can produce and was shown to be used to transcribe ANY language, not just English.
It took me a moment to be able to switch my brain over to read in IPA. I am so happy I will be able to study and utilize these principles when teaching students.
