Unit 18 is the last in the course to cover English grammar, however, it emphasizes there are further areas for study. The unit continues to examine modal auxiliary verbs, passive versus active voice, phrasal verbs, and relative clauses (independent, dependent, and relative). Active versus passive voice usage was one of the areas I struggled with in terms of writing in my undergraduate studies. While I got the basic concept, having it explained in this unit along with the examples and tense charts, helped to clarify much of the confusion I had held up until this point. At the very least, it’s a good source to reference when trying to explain the differences between active and passive voice to new students.
