This unit taught me more common language items that I take for granted in English because there are so many modifiers in order for the speech to sound correct. I suspect that these language items would have to be taught to more advanced students broken up over a period of time and practiced extensively so that the students can become accustomed to the flow of speech. Reporting speech comes naturally to us, but there are many rules that a learner would have to adapt to as there is a tremendous margin for mistakes and errors. Conditionals are another common form of speech that adhere to specific grammar forms and rules with some room for error.
