Tests and assesment are one of the best "weapons" the teacher has. They are useful to understand the english level of the class. With regular tests teacher can see what are weakness and strenght of the class, regarding grammar, spoken and written english and vocabulary. In my opinion, the best thing to do is to have a small test after each section we covered as a class, and, every two months, a much bigger test to evaluate the lever the class reached.
