Pronunciation is often one of the hardest concepts for non-native speakers of English to master. It's important to have realistic goals when teaching pronunciation, as it's likely that the learners will never sound completely native (nor should it be the goal). Individual sounds can be taught using IPA and teaching how parts of the mouth, tongue and throat interact with the individual sounds. Things like tone and intonation have to be taught in conjunction with meaning, as these factors can determine the speaker's intentions. For example, rising intonation at the end of the sentence could mean that the speaker wants the listener to respond. In contrast, a falling intonation could mean that they speaker is finished with their statement.
