This unit provides a basic overview of the future tenses and their usages. Without rewriting the whole chapter, this unit covers the future simple which is used, amongst other things, for talking about future facts, promises, and making predictions without evidence. It then covers the future continuous, used to describe actions in progress in a particular point in the future. Then it moves onto the future perfect simple used to say that something will have been completed by a particular point in the future. After the future perfect simple it looks very briefly at the future perfect continuous, which is used to state how long something will have continued up to a point in time. Finally it covers "going to" - to talk about future plans and predictions with evidence, Present simple - for timetables and schedules and the present continuous - used to describe definite arrangements. As usual, with each tense the unit provides some simple teaching ideas. I found the teaching ideas for the future perfect simple and continuous particularly useful. These are tenses which are hard to explain to students - some languages don't have an equivalent, so students are meeting the tenses for the first time - and the teaching ideas are useful ideas for introducing students to them.
