I can see how this is a largely ignored area when teaching speakers of other languages. Quite frankly, this is hardly ever taught to native speaking children, only in the most rudimentary form, and even then, completely ignored after the basics are covered. I imagine native speakers acquire much of their pronunciation from being surrounded by the language all the time, never without a perfect example.
