Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This unit contrasted two videos; one with a rather unsuccessful ESA lesson and the other with a very successful ESA lesson. In the first video, I have learned what kind of behavior made the lesson rather unsuccessful and make sure to not repeat it in my own lessons. From the first video, I have learned the followings: - In the first phase of the study stage, make sure to properly offer a specific and familiar context to properly elicit as much information as possible from the students (asking students "what you can do/can't do" is way too general/unfamiliar for students to answer). - Try to remember the students' name. - Try to explain the instructions is a slow and clear manner. - Avoid using jargons or difficult words (most students won't understand what "regulations on the roads" mean) - Make sure to demonstrate how to do the worksheet with one or two examples questions instead of telling them to read the instructions on the worksheet. - Make sure to prepare the material properly (there were only 10 pieces of paper in the activity where as the class has 11 students) - Make sure to treat the students fairly (you cannot decide which team wins a game by saying "I just like this side better") In the second video, I have learned the followings can make my lesson more effective: - Make sure to use humor in the class - Try to the give a specific and familiar context in the engage phase to invite students to participate. - Make sure to have a positive and engaging attitude, and don’t reprimand students for having the wrong answer. - Encourage student-to-student interactions during the study phase. - Try to use students’ name in an unpredictable manner to invite them to participate and try to elicit as much information as the students as possible. - Make use of visual aids to help the students understand (instead of just writing whether the student got the answer “right” or “wrong’ on the board, the teacher wrote the correct answer on the board). - Demonstrate how to do the activity during the activate phase by doing one or two questions together with the class to ensure that everyone understands the instructions clearly.
