In an ideal world schools would have all the books and materials you would need,though in reality you may need to create your own materials in a classroom to either supplement a course book or add to it. These materials can be divided into authentic materials and created materials. Authentic materials are real, more interesting,motivating to students and help students gain confidence when they understand them eg; songs,poems,brochures,menus etc. Created materials are usually designed by the teacher to replace or supplement materials from the course book eg; crosswords,flashcards,picture stories etc. Course books usually consist of a set of materials;students book, workbook,cassettes,teachers book and in some cases video activities to enforce the material in the students book.
