Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This unit is quite short but contains a lot of tips I found very useful. The unit talks about how trouble shooting common problem situations. The unit begins by talking about first lessons. It suggests that the teacher shouldn't make use of a course book during a first lesson but should do activities that are focused on establishing a rapport between the teacher and the students and that help a teacher find out about students' needs, aspirations and english level. I really liked the "pass the ball" game suggestion and it's one I intend to use in the future. The unit then talks about why warm up activities are so useful and gives a number of great suggestions about these. I like the idea of using tongue twisters. The unit then looks at the problems that can come with having a mixed - level group. Again I found the tip of pairing stronger students with weaker ones very useful and will make use of that idea. The chapter then discusses large classes and gives tips on how to manage them -group/ pair work, worksheets and group leaders are three of the tips. The unit discusses how to avoid the use of students' native language in a class. It suggests ensuring that the lesson is at the correct level and that the teacher's explanations are clear. It also reminds teachers to only respond in English and keep cajoling the students to speak english. Finally, the unit talks about how to encourage more reluctant students to take part in lessons and what factors might be contributing to their reticence.
