This unit was interesting because it demonstrated how an instructor can maximize students' receptive learning during lessons. I learned that choosing topics to discuss in class is important as well as the difference between authentic and unauthentic text. If I were teaching a beginner class, I would have to choose unauthentic text or very simple authentic text which incorporates easy vocabulary already learned. If I chose text too difficult, students would become unconfident and potentially disengage from learning.
