In this unit Teaching equipment I learn't what equipment a teacher has to use in the classroom environment, such as white board, interactive white board, overhead projector, worksheets and work cards, something for playing music on, dictionaries are very useful as the also show the correct pronunciations, and course books along with resource books. Also another important aid is the computer as then you can access online resources. Every teacher should have a white board, I prefer these to the older chalk boards which aren't as clean as the white board, which is very easy to clean with just a damp rag. It's also a good idea to plan out your work for that day on the white board. The white board can be used for many different things including a projector surface, writing and drawing things on, or sticking worksheets or work cards to, and its good for the students too, it holds there attention. Here are just a few tips for using the white board.Always start with a clean board, write neatly, erase what is no longer needed, try to section up the board, some people use columns to do this. I also leaned about IWB's (Interactive White Boards), but these can be very expensive, and it can break easily so it's a good idea to have a backup plan just in case. I learned about the advantages and disadvantages of using an overhead projector, and how using visual aids such as photo's, real objects like pictures and magazines can be useful. Worksheets and work cards can also be bought or made by the teacher. These are great prompting aids and can be used for reading and grammar exercises. The cassette recorder or a CD player is a very useful tool, but with these make sure that you know how to use them properly.Along with TV's video camera's that use a screen make sure that all the students have a clear view. Dictionaries, course books and resource books are also very useful, but these can give the students the wrong impression if they always use them. I also learned hoe photocopiers and computers are used. Also there are thousands of online resources that can be easily found.
