Unit 7 covers the three pivotal domains of teaching any language--Vocabulary, Grammar, and Function, and likens their roles to the trunk,branches, and leaves of a tree...each have their own functions, and all are necessary for the tree to thrive. The unit goes over the key components that will determine the difficulties students will have when learning vocabulary/grammar, and the criteria involved when selecting which vocab/grammar functions to teach. Additionally, Unit 7 includes sample teaching plans and activities for teaching vocab/grammar/function using Straight Arrow, Boomerang, and Patchwork approaches.
