It is important to use both authentic and course materials in each lesson. Authentic material is intriguing as it is real and there for more motivating, it helps students gain confidence and it can be geared toward a particular group of students. Created materials are designed by the teacher to replace materials from the course book to keep things interesting and up to date. Course books provide a balance of grammar, vocabulary and skills work, however it does not always fit the specific needs and interests of all class members.
