In unit 17 we covered equipment and teaching aides. There are a lot of aides, both technological and not, that can be used in a classroom. The essential task, in choosing the method of teaching and whether it would require and aid or a from of equipment, is efficacy. For example, playing a recording through a cassette, CD, DVD or any other method, could give examples of authentic accents and dialects. Simple cut-outs from a magazine or newspaper could elicit imagery and vocabulary for students. When choosing the most effective method for teaching, consider also the most effective preparations, like getting audio/visual aides ready before class, or getting to know equipment beforehand.
