This unit is very helpful in distinguishing the positives and negatives of using course books versus authentic or created materials , what they all have to offer and how best they can be used. I completely agree that one has to adapt and supplement course books to more adequately meet the specific need of ones students. I also find that authentic materials can be very stimulating but it is however difficult to be sure that the material will suit the level of your pupils.
