In unit 20 we covered problem-solving and a variety of different common problems that teachers, especially new teachers, have. For example, the first lesson is very important. One should find out if the group has already been existing or if it is brand new. One should find out everyone's names and establish rapport with a game, or a few. One should get to know backgrounds somewhat but also mindful of cultural differences, so that one doesn't lose more rapport than would be gained. With new and existing groups, it is important to begin finding out how comfortable with the language, what needs there are and interests in the group, so one can always be tailoring lessons toward the students.
