This unit provided me with a nice framework to breakdown the roles of both teachers and learners. It was helpful to isolate the different roles a teacher takes on and reflect on my own experiences teaching. It was also helpful to think about the roles for a student in terms of how they participate in class to be successful. I also really appreciated that the unit prompted me to think about how to tailor my approach for different types of learners whether that is young learners to adult learners or beginning to advanced learners. Lastly, while not focused on heavily in the unit, the unit did remind me that my students may have a different expectations for how both teaching and learning proceed based on their cultural context and this is something I should keep in mind as I begin to teach in another country.
