This unit introduces the differences between authentic and created materials (authentic materials are everyday native-speaker things such as newspaper articles, while created materials are prepared by the teacher for the purpose of the class). It covers ways in which materials can be used to help the students in their learning. This chapter also covers what course books usually consist of, and how to use them effectively in the classroom.
