I learned that There are only 3 articles (a, an, the) in English which we can further classify as definite (the) and indefinite (a, an). They come before a noun or a noun phrase in a sentence. We use the article “the” if we are referring to a particular or specific noun and we use indefinite articles (a, an) if we are talking about any member of a group. In addition, indefinite articles are only used with singular nouns.
Ex: I will go to the coffee shop later. (definite)
She does not want to spend her time in a coffee shop. (indefinite)
An attractive man sat across from me at the coffee shop. (indefinite)
