I found the lessons in this unit to be helpful, especially the exercises suggested to be used as activation elements. However, some of the explanations were vague and the answers uncommon for American English. There were instances where I felt that the answers for reported speech were incorrect or inconclusive. While the lesson had suggestions of how the speech may have had other options, I feel that to suggest these as final to students learning English, the method may need additional attention. Thus, I imagine that we will use textbooks, and we will have the opportunity to supplement and show students other ways in which this speech can be communicated with less margin of error or confusion.
