This unit talks about classroom management and what style is suited better depending on your group of students. It is very important for the teacher to inspire confidence, or in other words, when to be lenient and when to be strict. There are many ways we can insure this in a classroom. Management is very importannt and it entails a set of skills to be applied in order to have a friendly, relaxed atmosphere while maintaining discipline.
First, we go through eye contact, gestures and the way you use your voice. How we group students in the classroom is key as well. The unit also tells us about the pros and cons of different ways of grouping them. Classroom arrangement is equally important. We must oversee the physical space as well as the many individual characteristics of our students. We also review how to maintain discipline in the classroom, teacher talk time, establishing rapport with and among the students, giving instructions, individual attention and last but not least, how to respond to problem beahvior.
