This unit breaks down the various types of tests generally given to ESL students. It helps to consider the nuance between the intent of different types of tests. Testing may be used to determine placement, student's interests, and evaluate progress. The lesson also discussed many different American and British English assessment examinations and the type of people that take them. A big takeaway from most of my TEFL lessons is that, if I were to be hypothetically placed at a school with no preset materials of my own, I would be able to build a curriculum. From this lesson, I would have a better idea of how to design and evaluate both placement and progress tests for my students.
