This unit has reminded me of just how complicated and challenging English grammar is and that I should always be empathetic to students who are experiencing difficulties working things out. If I am befuddled trying to understand these concepts, I can only imagine how confusing it must be for a foreign language learner. Also, I wonder if there's a time in a learners mind that things go from conceptual understanding to 'just clicking', similar to a native speaker that says I don't know why it's correct it just is because it sounds correct.
