Which TEFL course is best for teaching English online?

Due to the huge international demand for English teachers both online and in the classroom, ITTT has designed various courses that are aimed at anyone who wants to teach English in either of these environments. No previous experience or training in teaching English is required to complete these courses and once completed you will be qualified to apply for jobs with a wide range of employers.

50-hr Course in Teaching English Online (CTEO)

This course is especially designed to build on the knowledge learned during a standard TEFL course and to prepare you for teaching English in an online environment. Upon successful completion of the course you will be given access to a unique graduate network, connecting you to ITTT CTEO alumni currently employed by many of the major employers in online teaching.

CTEO Course Units

  • Unit 1: Course Introduction
  • Unit 2: Equipment
  • Unit 3: Working Options
  • Unit 4: Teachers and Learners
  • Unit 5: Social Media
  • Unit 6: The Online Teaching World

The course consists of six individual units, which are each followed by an automated online assessment to check your understanding of the material covered. When you have successfully completed all six units by scoring 75% or more on average, you will then move on to a final summative task. Once all six tests and the final task have been completed you will be awarded your course certificate. You will be given up to six months to complete all parts of the course, and within this time frame you can work at whatever pace you feel comfortable with.

170-hr Course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language with Online Specialization

If you have yet to gain a standard TEFL certification and are thinking about teaching English online, our 170-hour Teaching English as a Foreign Language course with Online Specialization could be the perfect option for you. Through this course you will learn all the knowledge and skills needed to teach English in both classroom and online settings. The course is divided into two parts: First, you complete our standard 120-hour online TEFL certification course which is designed to cover all aspects of teaching the English language. This is followed by a further 50-hours of study that covers the specific skills needed to teach English in an online environment.

One added benefit of this course is that on completion you will gain access to a unique graduate network, connecting you to ITTT alumni currently employed by many of the major employers in online teaching. The 120-hour TEFL course must be completed first in order to provide a basic understanding of English teaching, followed by the 50-hour CTEO course. Once you have completed both sections of the course you can choose to receive either two individual certificates covering each section, or a single 170-hour certificate that incorporates both parts of the course.
