A modal verb is a type of verb that is used to indicate modality – that is: likelihood, ability, permission, request, capacity, suggestions, order and obligation, and advice etc. They always take base form of verb with them. Examples include the English verbs can/could, may/might, must, will/would and shall/should. Modal verbs don't change in form according to person. Modal verbs are followed by a verb in its base form in using them in present and future tense,but in past tense the situation becomes more complicated as modal with more than one meaning may express past ideas in different ways according to the meaning.for the teacher to make a effective lesson and create teaching ideas for modal verbs it is better to go for role play, talking about traffic signs, rules followed in hotels,airports, play areas,etc. Passive voice = The passive voice is used to show interest in the person or object that experiences an action rather than the person or object that performs the action. In other words, the most important thing or person becomes the subject of the sentence.In the Active Voice, the Subject (Noun) of a sentence Performs an Action (Verb) on an Object. In the Passive Voice, the Subject (Noun) is Acted Upon (Verb) by an Object. Passive voice is used to draw attention to the action rather than the doer of the action. To teach passive voice teacher can give matching exercises,general knowledge quiz in passive voice. Relative clauses are clauses starting with the relative pronouns who*, that, which, whose, where, when. They are most often used to define or identify the noun that precedes them.The relative clause may also function as an embedded clause within a main (or higher-level) clause, thereby forming a matrix sentence. There are two types of relative clause: restrictive (or defining) relative clauses and non-restrictive (or non-defining) relative clauses. Non-defining clauses also use relative pronouns, just as defining clauses do. The only difference is that you cannot use “that” with a non-defining clause, unlike defining clauses. ... It's easy to spot a non-defining clause in writing, as you'll see that the clause is separated by commas at the start and end of it! Phrasal verbs =A phrasal verb is a verb that is made up of a main verb together with an adverb or a preposition, or both. Typically, their meaning is not obvious from the meanings of the individual words themselves. For example: She has always looked down on me. These can be taught by practice and more and more usage in daily class routine to make the students more familiar to them. They are best learned as vocabulary items .
