Unit 1 of the course details and explains the role of both the teacher and the student. The qualities required in both are linked to the characteristics of each role. I learnt that the teacher can and should be more than a manager and organiser. This unit also explains the different students’ background possible and how culture, experience and age can affect the learning process and attitude of a student. I also learnt the Common European Framework, which I had never heard of, myself being North American.
