Unit 14 covers course books and lesson materials. Firstly, authentic materials are discussed. These include anything a native speaker would hear or read in their daily lives. Created materials are then explained. These include crosswords, word search puzzles, role-play cards, flash cards, gap fill activities, and picture stories. The unit gives examples of each type. Course books are discussed last. The advantages and disadvantages are explained, as well as the best use of course books. The four different options for course book use are explained, then the analysis of a course book, including; price, availability, design, methodology, skills, difficulty, syllabus, topic, teacher’s guide, and ancillary materials used.
