The unit described a myriad of roles a good teacher plays in the classroom, however it is impossible to embody all roles at once, and some roles, for example those of Participant and Facilitator could be considered polar activities. In other words, the Participant is engaging in the activity, while the Facilitator empowers the student to independently explore the class content. So, a good teacher will ultimately achieve, primarily I imagine through firsthand experience, a facility to rapidly intuit which role to play, and when, based on the conditions, activities, and even mood of the classroom. The recipe for successful classroom learning includes a good teacher capable of executing all necessary roles, as well as a "good" student, which embodies a number of characteristics. But we don't get to choose our students, so while one student might be unembarrassed to make mistakes while learning he or she might not be motivated to be there. One of the chief qualities of a good teacher is determining a winning strategy for their student when that person might not have every last ideal quality for a learner coming through the door. In this case the teacher may need to focus on what aspect of the student's learning character, be in self-confidence, motivation or otherwise, needs to be strengthened via tutoring or promoting certain model behaviors. I look forward to learning how to build my strengths in each of the teacher's necessary roles in order to maximize gains for my future students.
